Congratulations on your election to the MDCPS school board! My name is Bill Detzner. I am a retired MDCPS teacher who taught for 25 years at Neva King Cooper Educational Center (NKC), a school exclusively for profoundly mentally handicapped children. Both the principal of NKC (Dr. Tracy Roos) and the Assistant Principal (Mrs. Alicia Fernandez) have a very troubled past, including allegedly physically assaulting BOTH a profoundly mentally handicapped African-American student, and a Hispanic social worker who was an NKC social worker, allegedly cheating by both administrators on the yearly high stakes achievement test given to NKC students, etc. My blog is mdcpsallegations.com I am hoping you will read my blog to familiarize yourself with the 9 year on-going crisis at NKC. NKC is a ticking time bomb. If NKC experiences one or more incidents of racial violence during your tenure as the District 9 school board member, it will result in extremely negative press coverage for you. I am hoping you will recommend to Superintendent Carvalho that both NKC administrators be replaced immediately. Again, please accept my deepest congratulations for your election to the school board.
